Organic Line Enjoys Continued Growth


Gills’ organic offerings of yellow onions for foodservice, retail and industrial customers has been received by customers with great enthusiasm. While we have had organic onions available since 1998, the program has recently expanded due to a growing demand across all sectors for organic. The product is available year-round and is certified organic.  “The 10 ounce diced yellow retail pack is a natural extension of our retail line,” explains Nelia Alamo, director of sales and marketing for Gills Onions. “Rather than growing our own, we source the organic onions, which leads to more price fluctuation, but we are able to obtain consistent high quality raw product to satisfy this growing segment,” she said.
