Gills Onions Sales Team Goes on “Trial”
Have you ever wondered how onion variety trials are conducted? It’s detailed knowledge the Gills Onions and Fresh Connect sales team wanted to gain, so we recently held a foodservice sales meeting near our fields in the San Joaquin Valley, where we’ve been harvesting since early June. The team toured fields in Huron, where we observed variety trials right at the field level. From there, it was into the classroom where guest speaker’s Diane Leonard, Director of Customer Marketing Foodservice for Fresh Express offered insight into foodservice industry trends. The training helps us to be more helpful to our customers and we’re happy to share what we learned! The sales team also observed how the onions are harvested and toured the packing shed where the onions are sorted before they are sent to the processing facility in Oxnard.
