Gills Participates in “Produce First!” Conference

Nunhems USA of Parma, Idaho sponsored Gills Onions to be a participant in the second annual Produce for Better Health and The Culinary Institute of America’s “Produce First!”conference in Napa Valley, CA mid-January.  The conference joins chefs and foodservice leaders togetherwith key members of the produce industry to brainstorm fresh ideas to make fresh produce more available on America’s menus.

“This conference was amazing,” said Nelia Alamo, Director of Sales and Marketing for Gills Onions. “We really appreciate the opportunity to participate, thanks to our seed supplier, Nunhems.”

The event featured lectures from industry leaders and showcased PBH’s new Menu Trends research. The study, made possible through a contribution from Nunhems, shows that opportunities for increasing produce on menus are plentiful, especially for Quick Service and Casual Dining segments. The conference culminated in a hand-on collaboration of participants from all sectors, guided by instructor chefs. Menus were developed using culinary strategies from the Mediterranean, Mexican cuisine and the World’s Spice routes.
